What Does Sharking Mean

Anna Sten - On the blank canvas of dark rooms ... Bait

Anna Sten seemed to have everything it takes to become the heroine a fairy tale.
Born of a Swedish mother and a Ukrainian father who died when she was barely twelve years, leaving substantial debts forall inheritance,
In 1927 a genie named Boris Barnet offered the lead role of The Girl with hat box. Other important roles give it a dimension that allows him to consider a place among the young actresses of Soviet cinema.
His destiny changed when the studios Mezrabpom ask him to go to Germany to continue his career in order to receive technical advantages provided by a film on the cutting edge of modernism at the time.
Anna Sten then meets someone who would become her mentor (and husband): an architect named Frenke
Knowing his wife's desire to play Gruschenka The Brothers Karamazov, he produced the movie in 1931 and leaves Ozep stage adaptation of Dostoyevsky who meets a huge success in Europe. Anna signs a contract with the UFA studios. Fame Anna Sten crossed the ocean and seduces the "tycoon" American Samuel Goldwyn who decides to "sculpt" Anna Sten as a rival to Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich.
Anna Sten obviously knew the Russian language, learned German and French but did not speak a word of English. Whatever! Goldwyn offered him a bunch of professors who instilled him with difficulty the rudiments of a language that will never happen to master.
Better yet, it loads Farnol Lynn, an agent entirely devoted to the will and the dollars of the "master" to teach Americans a new star was born. Farnol exceeds instructions Goldwyn, began an incredible advertising campaign and Anna Sten is one of the largest planned queens of the screen.
The most difficult part: to give roles to his position and convince the viewers of her magnetism. Goldwyn, who had enjoyed success in the 20s by launching another European actress, Vilma Banky thought the Hungarian obviously make the diva Anna Sten 30s. But the dream begins to crumble when the first trials of Anna Sten encounter difficulties, it is not the cause, and it will gradually become the victim.
Anna Sten is then tossed from project to project. But it fails to lose his Russian accent and is probably unfortunate that the imperfection of never having been adopted by the public.
Anna Sten now forgotten by moviegoers remains the most tragic example of the star system of ruthless big time studios Hollywood.
